PREMIERS 2020
Coach: Paul Gilbert
Managers: Leanne & Greg Rider
Trainers: Andrew Martin & Steve Cooper
The 2020 season after our Covid-19 start turned out to be an outstanding win for the team.
After a mixed season in the preliminary rounds we managed to scrape into the grand final by a point. The grand final turned out to be the game of the year against the Taren Point Titans. The Titans had smashed us in the previous two games 46-16 and 44-18 but the boys lifted for the grand final playing amazing football to win with five seconds left on the clock. Truly a heart stopping victory and something we will never forget.
Congratulations boys – well done.
Big thanks to the Under 12 boys who backed up and played for us throughout the season – Reece, Brody, Harley and Nate.
Thanks also to the Under 14’s for working together with the boys at training and support at games throughout year.
To Andrew, Steve, Greg and Leanne – great support from great people we couldn’t have done it without you.
To the Bosco Club and committee thanks for getting the season off the ground this year and all your support – Dave, Jen, Mel, Belinda, Brad E, Simon, TK, KK and Adam (special thanks for amazing photos throughout year).
Sean Tynan
Sean definitely saved his best for late in the season. His game in the grand final is the best game I have seen him play. Steady improvement over the last few seasons has Sean growing in confidence and getting more involved in games. Keep it up Sean next year will be your year.
Jax Hopkins
Jax having his first season with the team was a great asset to have. After starting the season at fullback. Jax found a home as one of our wingers. Always reliable Jax turned in consistent performances throughout the year and I can only see better things from him next year. Well done mate.
Danny Kearney
Danny had another outstanding year following up from last year. Our try scoring machine Danny scored two in the grand final but his best play was getting the boys all together when Sam went off injured and asking everyone to play just that bit harder. Great leadership qualities mate, well done.
Sam Gilroy (Captain)
Sam was our captain this year and led from the front every game he played. Strong defence was a feature of his game. As the season progressed his kicking game and organisation improved out of site getting the best out of all his team mates. He scored the winning try in the grand final with a barnstorming run. Great season, well done mate.
Sam Bryant
A stalwart of our team Sam was one of the best this year. Solid in defence in the centres he was even found in dummy half this year organising our attack. A real character of our team Sam is never short of a work making the year enjoyable for everyone. Well done mate.
Cooper Martin
An outstanding year for Coops he really stood up this year with hard straight running in attack helping him to score plenty of tries. In defence he was just as solid saving his best smashing The Titan’s big boys in the grand final. Great season Cooper.
Zak Rider
Zak was our Mr Versatile this year filling a number of positions throughout the season. The leader of our kick chase Zak was the first down to meet the opposition in defence. Zak is another of our players that really stepped up this yea. Great bloke and team player.
Lincoln Cooper
Lincoln is another of our players who grew in leaps and bounds as the season progressed. Linc was rock solid in defence in the centres. While in attack his scoots from dummy half were outstanding always getting us moving forward. Great clubman and player. Well done Linc.
James Devaney
‘Jimmy the Jet’ was definitely a crowd favourite with all our parents and supporters. Small in stature but big in heart Jimmy gave 100% every game. His scoots from dummy half a feature getting him a couple of tries this year. He always seemed to know where Adam’s camera was and was featured on the website. Thanks Jimmy.
Will Price
Prices unfortunately had an injury riddled season, he certainly knows how to pick up a finger injury. It was great that he could make it back for the grand final and he certainly had a great game in attack and defence. Injury free next year Will. Turning up to every game Will helped me on the sideline. Great clubman, well done mate.
Will Donnelly
Our big bopper upfront Will gave his best this year with strong charges forward getting our team on the front foot. Will also hit hard in defence putting fear in the opposition. Great year mate.
Archie Donnelly
Archie was always ready to back up from his Under 12 game and help us field a full team. Archie always gave 100% and it’s great to have young men like him that put the Club first. Well done Archie.
Flynn Impey
Another solid season from Flynn playing in a number of positions this yea. Happiest at dummy half Flynn steadily improved his passing game and got us on the front foot with quick passes. An unsung hero in defence Flynn has a solid tackling style snapping the legs of the opposition. Well done mate.
Owen Anderson
Owen was our most improved player amongst a hot field. Owen just keeps on improving and his fearless charges into the opposition certainly got us going forward. In defence he put a number of big shots on the opposition. Great season Owen, just keep on improving.
Blaik Maybury
Blaik is the hard man of our team he was always in the oppositions faces with strong defence and not giving an inch. Blaik loves tacking low, stopping the opposition in their tracks. In attack he has shown steady improvement an even stepped up in the grand final when Sam was off injured. Well done Blaik.
Alex Gilbert
Alex is another of the boys who played a lot of different positions this year. Alex is always happy to fill in wherever needed. He even filled in as coach when I was barred on grand final day. The holder of the Bulldog’s sausage sandwich record has good hands and with a little more work on his fitness will be a solid all round player. Well done Gill and has surpassed his brother in tackling.
